Stop Fighting About Money & Stay Aligned While Building Wealth Together

Money is the #1 source of stress in marriages. I’ve felt it firsthand. A few years ago, Abbey and I were out of sync on spending. This was because one of us ended up carrying the “mental load” while the other did not. That mismatch cost us close to $15,000 a year.

The deeper problem is simple: budgeting apps only show you history. They’ll tell you where the money went, but they won’t help you actually talk about it with your spouse before overspending turns into a fight.

That’s why I'm building MoneyTalks.

What it is

MoneyTalks is a money coach over text. Not another app to download. Not a spreadsheet to maintain. Text messages that spark conversations so couples can get aligned, stay aligned, and build wealth together and fight less.

How it works

Two text threads: one private with each partner and one shared group chat with the coach.

Smart prompts and nudges help you avoid problems. You receive reminders and check-ins with tips and frameworks before money becomes an issue.

Custom cadence: every couple’s rhythm is different. Some want weekly digests. Others need a nudge now and then. MoneyTalks adapts.

Why it matters

Couples fight less and trust more.

No one person carries the whole mental load.

Shared context = better decisions and less stress.

Why now

For the first time, AI can scale conversational coaching. MoneyTalks connects with couples through texts, a channel they already use daily. This way, it meets them where they are without needing to download another app.

The business model

Pay for what you use. Light users pay less. Couples who are more active pay more.

The vision

Think of it like Headspace for money talks. A tool that transforms one of the hardest conversations in a marriage into a moment of connection and alignment.

I plan to run a pilot to test with couples, measuring replies, sparked conversations, and retention.
